Mastering the Craft: Free Weekly ASL Classes at Reliance Church

Every Friday, the doors of Reliance Church open to provide a structured, tiered learning environment for the community. We offer ASL Elementary at 9:00 AM, ASL 1 at 10:00 AM, and ASL 2 at 11:00 AM. This progressive schedule allows students to immerse themselves in the language at their specific skill level while building a consistent weekly rhythm. For ITP students, these sessions offer a rare and critical opportunity. With prior approval, you can step into the booth (so to speak) and practice live voice interpreting, gaining the real-time processing experience that is essential for professional certification.

However, the criticality of these classes lies in the commitment to the community. Because these classes are provided entirely free of charge, we operate on a model of mutual investment. We don't ask for tuition, but we do ask for your presence and your passion. To maintain the integrity and sustainability of the program, participation is more than just attendance—it is a commitment to the collective success of the group.

The tuition for these sessions is paid through community service and performance. All participating students are expected to represent the program by performing in the Christmas Parade and the Spring ASL Show. These events are not optional extras; they are the vital culmination of your studies. They provide a platform to showcase the beauty of ASL to the public and demonstrate the progress you've made.
