Calling All ASL Interpreters!
We are looking for student interpreters to help bridge the gap and foster connections at Vista Murrieta High School’s upcoming Deaf Panelist Day!
This interpreting event is a unique opportunity to support the next generation of ASL learners while ensuring our Deaf guest speakers have seamless communication access as they share their lived experiences, culture, and stories.
Vista Murrieta High School is proud to host a Deaf Panelist Day. In this cornerstone event, members of the Deaf community share their lived experiences and cultural insights directly with our ASL students. To make this exchange truly accessible, we are seeking dedicated interpreters to facilitate communication within our classrooms and theater. Your presence ensures that every story told and every question asked is bridged with clarity, directly supporting Deaf advocacy and education by fostering a space where authentic dialogue can thrive between the community and the next generation of signers.
As a volunteer, you will play a vital role in the flow of the day through both voice-to-sign and sign-to-voice interpreting. You’ll be tasked with voicing the rich narratives and perspectives of our Deaf panelists for the students, as well as signing student inquiries back to the panel. For Interpreter Training Program (ITP) students, this is a particularly high-value environment; it offers a unique front-row seat to observe professional dynamics and provide support in a high-energy, educational setting that emphasizes real-world application.
Participating in this event is more than just a volunteer opportunity—it is a chance to strengthen community ties and grow professionally. You will have the opportunity to network with local Deaf leaders and fellow interpreting colleagues while refining your skills in a dynamic panel format. By lending your hands and voice, you are making a tangible difference, ensuring that the Deaf community’s voices are heard accurately and with the respect they deserve by students who are passionate about the language and culture.
